Maddie White with a team-best in the second round

San Jose State women’s golf placed seventh in its Mexico trip to participate in the three-day Battle at the Beach. 

The first round landed three Spartans in the top-25 at the end of the day. Senior Ysabel Tran was tied for 18th with a two-over 74. She had three birdies and 10 pars on day one. 

Redshirt freshman Maddie White and freshman Antonia Malate both are tied for 22nd with  three-over 75. 

At the end of Friday, the Spartans had 10 birdies ending the day with a 300. The team finished tied for fifth place with Virginia Tech at +12.

The second round started on Saturday. White shot an even-par 72 giving her the team-best. She tied for 17th with a three-over 147. She ended the day with seven consecutive pars and a birdie.

SJSU finished in seventh place with a 296 on Saturday.

The final round concluded with the Spartans finishing in seventh place. Four of the golfers shot par or better on Sunday. White tied 16th with a two-over 218 on the final round. Tran completed the weekend tied 25th with a four-over 220. 

Alongside with LSU, SJSU finished the day with a 283 which was the fourth-best shot of this round. 

This tournament ended the Spartans fall schedule. The team has a nice break before they travel in February.
