San Jose State softball (10-7) will co-host the second part of the Silicon Valley Classic at the South Campus starting on Thursday.
The Spartans have four games slated across four days, with some against familiar opponents.
Cal State Fullerton (12-7) will be the first to play against SJSU on Thursday. The CSUF offense loves the long ball as it’s achieved 22 home runs in 19 games.
Freshman and sophomore pitchers Jenessa Ullegue and Caroline Bowman will need to hit their pitching locations in order to keep everything on the ground.
On Friday, SJSU will face UC Davis (13-4).
The team has to be smart in the batter’s box if sophomore pitcher Brooke Yanez is in the circle. She has struck out 80 batters in 56 innings pitched for the Aggies.
Saturday’s game will be against Cal State Northridge (6-11). Junior outfielder Megan Stevens leads the team in hitting with a batting average of .447.
Her and junior infielder Jessica Alexander top the Matadors with 10 RBIs apiece.
Weber State University (4-9) will be the Spartans’ final game on Sunday. Senior pitcher Tatiana Su’esu’e leads the Wildcats with a 4.40 ERA.
SJSU junior infielder Rayohna Sagapolu can take advantage as she leads the team with a .367 BA.
Freshman infielder Arianna Miranda can also contribute as she follows Sagapolu with a .348 BA and has a team-high three home runs.
First pitch on Thursday is set for 6 p.m.
