San Jose State (12-7, 6-3 MW) travels to Sacramento State (12-7) for a midweek non-conference game to start its two week road trip.
The Spartans will look to continue great form after coming out of the weekend with a sweep over UNLV. The Spartans outhit the Rebels 32-21 in two come-from-behind wins.
Sacramento State is riding an eight-game win streak and its pitching staff has a stellar 3.14 ERA. It leads the NCAA in walks-to-hit ratio (5.29) and walks allowed per game (1.84).
The Hornets are coming off back-to-back sweeps at home and are impressive in front of the local crowd. They’ve only dropped two games in Sacramento this season.
The Spartans will need to continue their offensive dominance if they want to snap the Hornets winning streak.
Junior Kellen Strahm has been unbelievable this far through the season, ranking fourth in the nation with a .473 batting average. He also leads the conference in BA and hits (35).
The Tuesday night game has proven difficult for the Spartans as they’ve won only one of four midweek contests.
The game is slated for a 5 p.m start at John Smith Field in Sacramento.
