SJSU cross country beats PR at Bronco Invitational

Multiple Spartans from SJSU cross country set their personal best records at the Bronco Invitational this past weekend. 

The invitational took place at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. hosted by Santa Clara University. 

During the men’s 8k, sophomore Christopher Malone led the team coming in at 90th place with a time of 25:19. 

SJSU junior Michael Chadwick came in at 120th place with a time of 25:56.7. This is Chadwick’s personal best record, beating his previous invitational time of 26.39. 

Freshman Alexander Walker followed right behind coming in at 121st place with a time of 25:56.9. This is Walker’s personal best record, beating his previous invitational time of 26.46. 

The men’s cross country team finished 15th out of 16 teams competing with a score of 439 points. In the women’s 6k, sophomore Constance O’Neal led SJSU coming in at 87th place with a time of 21:59. This is O’Neal’s personal best record beating her previous best time of 22:36 during the Pacific Collegiate Invitational. 

Freshman Amanda Chalburg followed a minute behind, coming in at 118th place with a time of 22:31. 

Freshman Caitlin Chea also set a new personal record during the 6k. Chea came in at 142nd with a time of 22:57. This beat her previous invitational time of 24:48. 

This invitational was the final regular-season race for the SJSU cross country team. The next event for the team will be the Mountain West Conference Championships in Boise, Idaho on October 27 at 11:00 a.m.
