WVB preview: SJSU brings winning streak to Reno

San Jose State women’s volleyball (13-7, 7-3 MW) will be playing against the University of Nevada (3-18, 0-10 MW) at the Wolf Pack’s home court tonight.

The Spartans are currently in third place in the Mountain West. They’re riding a four-game winning streak with sweeping wins against Fresno State and Air Force along with a surging 3-2 victory over New Mexico.

SJSU sits at 13 wins for the first time since 2018.

The Wolf Pack should look out for graduate student middle blocker Ryann Thomison. She is playing at the best averaging three kills and 1.63 blocks.

Another Spartan player the Wolf Pack and fans alike should pay attention to is senior outside hitter Haylee Nelson. She leads her team with a .251 kill average. Nelson is also looking to join graduate student outside hitter Latehivai Louisi on the Spartans’ highest kill list.

With Nelson, Thomisson and Louisi on the team the Wolf Pack should be scared on their home court tonight.

Nevada hasn’t been doing so well after being swept in its last six games. Nevada’s last win was on September 18th, 2021 at the Nevada Classic tournament.

The Wolf Pack is riding a 10-game losing streak. The Spartans will aim to make that 11 tonight.

The match is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Mountain West Digital Network.
