San Jose State women’s golf will be happy to leave the Phoenix heat.

SJSU could not make any putts at Papago Golf Course despite the warm conditions. They slid down the leaderboard to finish in 12th place at the Ping ASU Invitational.

It was a disappointing round considering the Spartans have finished inside the top 10 in their previous three events.

Junior Antonia Malate had a chance to chase her first collegiate win. However, she bogeyed three out of her first four holes to start herhad  day. She did have two birdies but also had two boegys to finish outside of the top 10 with her 3-over 75. She finished in a tie for 17th at one over par.

Freshman Jordyn Parr had five boegys on her scorecard. She did birdie the par-3 8th hole which was her lone highlight of the day. She finished in a tie for 46th at eight over par.

Sophomore Kajsa Arwefjall shot a 2-over 74 but it was a disappointing week for the Hollviken, Sweden native. She finished the tournament at eight over par which was for a tie for 50th.

Freshman Louisa Carlbom had two double bogeys on the scorecard. She shot a final round 80 which led to her finishing in a tie for 64th at 13 over par.

Sophomore Jadan Gonzalez did not have an ideal week. She shot her second straight round of 75 which led to a tie for 70th at 15 over par.

It was a thrilling finish in Phoenix. Host team Arizona State and University of Oregon will share the team title as they both finished at two-under 862. The Ducks started the day seven shots back but shot a lights out nine under today to get their first tournament win in more than five years. This was also the Sun Devils third straight team title.

Northwestern junior Kelly Sim got her second collegiate win of her career. She shot an even par 72 to finish at five under which was one clear of four others.

The Spartans will get a week off before they head up to wine country where they will be playing in the Silverado Showdown in Napa. This will be the final regular season tournament for SJSU before the postseason. The tournament will be Monday April 5 thru Wednesday April 7.

Malate shot her second straight round of 71. She sits three shots back of the lead and was one of 12 players who shot an under par round at Papago Golf Course. Malate is at two under par and in a tie for sixth.

Parr had a nice bounce back round. The Temecula, Calif. native shot an even par 72 with her lone birdie on the par-3 11th hole. She sits at four over par and is in a tie for 35th place.
