The Spartans’ attempt to bring home a win was shot down by the Rebels on Friday.
San Jose State women’s soccer (0-5-1) lost its sixth game of the season 0-3 against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (3-2-1).
The Spartans have started their season with a three-game losing streak and since have been unable to win a game aside from tying against Nevada.
The game started off to be anyone’s for the taking but was quickly turned to UNLV’s favor.
With the assistance from Rebel freshman forward Jaden Terrana, sophomore midfielder Lourdes Bosch sniped a low shot right of the net scoring the first goal of the game 1-0 in the 13th minute.
SJSU struggled to find opportunities in the first half, having made nine-goal kicks but none of them connecting.
Like the cotton candy skies going dark, so too did the game for Spartans.
Redshirt sophomore midfielder Jules Dominguez secured UNLV’s lead with a goal scored 2-0 in the 48th minute.
The shot came from a right corner kick by UNLV senior defender Alyssa Granados who sent the ball into a crowd of Spartans and Rebels with Dominguez taking hold of it and bouncing it into the net.
UNLV snagged one more point and closed the game with a three-point lead 3-0 in the 77th minute thanks to a goal made by Rebel freshman forward Nailah Harpring.
Spartan junior goalkeeper Zoe Aguirre played well in this game by making several saves throughout the match, but as a whole SJSU ended up being too spread out to handle the Rebels’ offense.
On the offensive side, the Spartans only made five shots compared to UNLV’s 18.
The Spartans can look at this game for areas they can improve upon in time for their next game.
SJSU women’s soccer will play its next game against SDSU at 12 P.M. on Sunday in San Diego.
