This weekend the Spartans go down the road to hell — and it looks like a pool of water.
San Jose State women’s water polo (1-3) heads off to face its fifth and sixth games of the season against Arizona State (7-4) Saturday and Sunday.
So far SJSU has played against oppressive opponents, such as losses against Stanford (16-7) in its first game of the season and against UC Berkeley (19-8) in its previous game.
And, it looks like the Sun Devils will be added to that list.
Going back all the way to 2013, the Spartans have played a total of 14 games against ASU.
Many of those games were overwhelming defeats, some were close, but only three were won by SJSU.
Despite the forecast, SJSU is taking these tough games with stride, learning as much as they can from them.
In its previous game against the Cardinal, SJSU women’s water polo coach Beth Harberts said her team had a great opportunity to play more aggressively than it normally does.
A major takeaway from the game was to improve their shooting percentage by making sure their shots connected.
The Spartans will look to put that into action and also bring some new learning experiences back home.
SJSU women’s water polo will play against ASU on Saturday at 1 p.m in Tempe, Arizona, and can be watched live through the ASU live stream on the Pac-12 network.
