San Jose State’s women’s gymnastics team will be Air Force’s first opponent of the season in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

After two years of not facing each other, the Falcons will host the Spartans at the Cadet West Gym Friday at 6 p.m.

SJSU competed in a tri-meet against Air Force and Boise State in Idaho.

The Spartans beat the Falcons on vault 48.300-47.850 and on bars 48.700-47.250.

SJSU fell short 0.15 (tenth) points on beam and 0.575 (hundredth) on floor execution.

After all four events, the Spartans scored 193.050 points. They finished second to home team Boise State who had a 196.400.

The Falcons placed behind the Spartans with 191.875 points.

Wednesday MPSF honored all-around gymnast Lauren Macpherson Freshmen of the Week for her play against Stanford.

Last week, the Spartans started off to a strong season against the Cardinal 192.625-133.375.

SJSU will have to work hard this season in order to place in the top 36 for a spot to compete in the Regional Championship.
