The San Jose State women’s water polo team (0-1) will travel up Interstate 80 to face off against UC Davis (2-2) on Friday.
The Spartans are looking to turn their season around early on while the Aggies are trying to continue their winning streak.
The pool is full of swimmers but who are the ones that are going to float to the top.
The Spartans’ senior 2-meter Tyanna Supreme and senior driver Lili Urvari led the team with two points each in their season opening loss against Cal on Feb. 27.
Supreme and Urvari will face off against the Aggies’ starting sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Noble who had seven saves and four goals in the first half.
UCD’s freshman goalkeeper Nellie McAdams might enter the second half for relief as she did against Pacific where she saved eight goals from entering the cage.
For the SJSU defense, junior goalkeeper Hannah Henry played three of the four quarters and stopped six goals from entering the cage, including a 5-meter penalty shot.
Henry has to watch out for UCD’s junior center Noelle Wijnbelt, who scored four goals to help lead her team to a 14-8 victory over Pacific.
The action starts at 3 p.m. at the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
