San Jose State senior forward Tyra Whitehead has been honored with the Mountain West Player of the Week award by College Sports Madness for her performance in SJSU’s win over UC Berkeley on Monday.
Whitehead finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds, her 14th career double-double. She also finished with a game-high five steals as well as two blocks and two assists.
This is the second time in her career that Whitehead has received this honor. The Spartans’ win over the Golden Bears is the program’s first victory over a power conference team since 2004.
SJSU’s next game is scheduled for Dec. 8 versus UC Irvine at the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose.
