Senior Kevin Velo tied for fifth place out of 88 participants as San Jose State men’s golf finished sixth at the Oregon Duck Invitational.
Velo continued to perform at his best with a trio of even par 72’s, which led him to tie with University of San Francisco’s Toby Briggs and Boise State’s Skylar Eubank at 216.
In the final 18 holes, sophomore Bryce Wortman put on a show with a three-under 69 score. He was the only player to have a bogey-free round on the par 72.
Wortman tied with his career-best of 16th place at 220. Junior Sean Yu followed as he came in 24th place at 221.
The Spartans shot 885 as a team with Oregon State taking the title at 861.
SJSU will play in The Goodwin tournament Thursday through Saturday at Stanford University.
