Looking to end a seven-game losing skid, San Jose State women’s basketball (1-10) heads north to begin Mountain West play against the Fresno State Bulldogs (7-4) on Wednesday.

SJSU faces a difficult challenge against an undefeated-at-home FSU squad. However, according to SJSU Athletics, the Spartans hold a 23-19 conference-opener record, dating back to the 1977-78 season.

In 11 games played, the Bulldogs average 72.8 points per game, while allowing its opponents 62.3 PPG.

The team is led by three offensive threats in sophomore forward Maddi Utti, and senior and sophomore guards Candice White and Aly Gamez.

Utti tops the Bulldogs with a .548 field-goal percentage, followed by White at .451 and Gamez at .436. White leads the squad averaging 17.2 PPG.

Sophomore guard/forward Bree Delaney has 23 made 3-pointers in 11 games, so she’ll be looking to make shots beyond the arc more so than inside the paint.

Since the Bulldogs are known for high-scoring games, so it’ll be important for the defense to step up and get the rebounds, while the offense keeps up with the pace.

Sophomore forward Cydni Lewis leads the Spartans with 54 rebounds in 11 games, followed by point guard Danae Marquez with 47.

Lewis also leads the team averaging 10.6 PPG with junior guard Fieme’a Hafoka right behind with 10.2 PPG.

Although FSU gives up an average of 6.5 3PT per game, SJSU will look to use its 9.2 average to its advantage.

Junior guard Analyss Benally tops the Spartans with 24 made 3’s, followed by sophomore Megan Anderson with 18 and Hafoka with 15.

Tip-off at Save Mart Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
