SJSU football lands prime time games vs Fresno State, San Diego State

By Ernie Gonzalez

San Jose State football will play in four nationally-televised games in its 2018 season, as announced by the Mountain West Conference on Tuesday.

A pair of the games will be carried by CBS Sports Network while the other couple will be televised on the ESPN Conglomerate.

Its first game on the big screen will be a week-six matchup on Oct. 6 as it welcomes the Colorado State Rams to CEFCU Stadium.

That game will be broadcasted by CBSSN and kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.

The second of three nationally-televised contests in October will be the following week against Army West Point, the first ever matchup between the two programs.

The SJSU-Army game will be available through ESPN. The start time has yet to be determined.

SJSU will be exposed nationally for the third-consecutive week on Oct. 20 as it will play its traditional SJSU-SDSU rivalry game on national TV.

This year, CBSSN will take care of the coverage.

The Spartans and Aztecs will kickoff week eight at 7:30 p.m.

The fourth and final prime-time game for SJSU will be its season finale against rival Fresno State as it looks to take back the Valley Trophy it gave up last year on ESPN.

The game will be played in Fresno and does not yet have a start time.

Also announced by the Mountain West on Tuesday was the Spartans’ Homecoming date and opponent.

The University of Hawaii will visit CEFCU Stadium for the Sept. 29 Homecoming game. It will also be the first conference game of the season for the Spartans.
