Chan and Pascoe-Long power Gymnastics to second-place finish at McKale Center

San Jose State women’s gymnastics placed second in their second-to-last meet against Air Force, North Carolina and host University of Arizona on Friday.

Coming off a season high 195.050 meet, SJSU kept the pace from last week with a score of 195.025.

The Wildcats took the crown at home with 195.725, dominating the uneven parallel bars and balance beam events. North Carolina placed third with 194.850 and Air Force finished last of the four teams with 194.275.

The Spartans scored the highest on the vault routine with a whamming 49.025. North Carolina trailed close behind with 49.000.

Sophomore Taylor Chan came in first with her floor routine, a 9.900, tying her her personal best from last week. She placed third in the all around results with a combined score of 39.075. Senior Kaitlin Won was fifth overall with a combined score of 38.975.

Spartan junior Ellie Pascoe-Long finished in a three-way tie for first on the vault routine with a score of 9.850 against Madison Nettles and Khazia Hislop from North Carolina. Chan tied for a close fourth scoring 9.825 with Madison Cindric of Arizona.

San Jose State has one more meet left against No. 2 UCLA on Tuesday before heading to the MPSF Championships on March 24 where they will face Air Force, Alaska Anchorage, Sacramento State, Seattle Pacific and UC Davis.
