San Jose State women’s basketball brings experience to the women’s basketball program, as the Spartans announced Jonas Chatterton as the 11th head coach in school history Friday morning.

He has coached for over 24 years in Division I basketball, recently being the associate coach for the University of Oklahoma.

“Jonas’ basketball acumen really stood out during this national search,” director of athletics Jeff Konya said. “His passion for mentoring student-athletes, his commitment to excellence in academics, competition, and community make him the ideal leader to guide our program into a new era.”

Chatterton also spent a decade as associate head coach at Oregon State, with a Final Four appearance in 2016 and winning three straight PAC-12 regular season titles from 2015 to 2017.

The Spartans look to bring some winning culture to women’s basketball, which finished 10-22 last season, with Chatterton’s .679 winning percentage.
