San Jose State women’s tennis (15-1, 6-0 MW) extended its win streak to 11 meets on Sunday as it beat New Mexico (8-11, 2-4 MW) 4-0.
The Spartans took the doubles point and three singles matches.
SJSU was able to finish first with sophomore Duru Durgun and senior Olaya Bances Iglesias winning their doubles match 6-1.
Freshmen Emma Fantousis and Soledad Fayos Capilla gained the doubles point for the Spartans by winning their doubles match 6-3.
That left sophomore Cheuk Ying Shek and senior Carla Urchoeguia with an unfinished doubles match.
Fayos Capilla won her singles match 6-1, 6-0 against senior Allison Romero.
Fantousis won her singles match 6-2, 6-4.
Durgun clinched the win for the Spartans by winning her singles match 6-0, 6-3.
“In singles today, good performances all around,” SJSU head coach Chad Skorupka said in a video posted to the SJSU Athletics website. “Duru [Durgun] clinched the match at number two with straight sets.”
This left Shek, Urchoeguia, and Bances in unfinished matches.
SJSU will face San Diego State at noon Sunday at Spartan Tennis Complex.
