San Jose State softball (14-15, 3-2 MW) won 9-6 vs. Colorado State (11-17, 2-2 MW), getting their second win of a three-game series.
The Spartans took control of this game early in the second inning scoring eight runs.
The Spartans got key contributions from their whole lineup during this inning, with eight hits and 5 RBIs.
Sophomore Haley Reeve sparked this rally by hitting a ground ball RBI to center field. The Spartans didn’t look back, scoring another seven runs.
Head Coach Tammy Lohmann, the third base coach, said, “I love that my arm gets tired moving it around,” SJSU head coach Tammy Lohmann said when discussing signaling her players home.
SJSU senior pitcher Lacie Ham had a gritty performance on Saturday with eight strikeouts and pitching the whole game.
Ham allowed two runs in the third and fourth inning, then gave up three more in the seventh as the Rams tried to rally. The Spartans coaching staff briefly pulled her, but she returned to finish the game.
When asked about it, Coach Lohmann said. “We just needed to give her an opportunity to reset”
