Kajsa Arwefjall put the cherry on top of an already great week by dominating her final regular season collegiate tournament.

Arwefjall finished in a two-way for first place with USC sophomore Catherine Park at the Chevron Silverado Showdown that took place Monday-Wednesday at the Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, Calif. Her second-round score of 66 led the tournament with the lowest single-round score.

“It was a good day,” Arwefjall said. “It was nice to play out here. Nice way to finish regular season.”

It was a quick turnaround as she just competed in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur where she finished tied for 27th. It was her second time competing in this tournament.

SJSU women’s golf head coach Dana Dormann also spoke about Arwefjall’s performance.

“Super proud of her. This is an amazing to kind of ramp up in her senior year,” Dormann said.

Her performance was guided by her performance on par 4 holes where she shot a tournament leading 6-under par on them.

San Jose State finished the three-round tournament in fourth place, 9-strokes behind co-winners Northwestern and USC.

Sophomore Rebecca Gyllner finished in a five-way tie for 18th place at 3-over par. This would’ve made her the second highest placing Spartan but she competed as an individual. Because of this, her score would not count towards the team total.

Redshirt freshman Darae Chung ended up being the second highest placing Spartan among non-individual participants, finishing in a five-way tie for 38th place at 7-over par. She finished the tournament strong with a score of 70 in the third round.

The Spartans will be looking for redemption in the Mountain West Championship where they finished in second place last season despite being the favorites to win it.

They will be looking to carry the momentum into the tournament which is scheduled for April 16-18 at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
