Well it had to end at some point right?

After a four-match winning streak to open the season, San Jose State tennis (4-1) fell to CSU Fullerton (5-1) Friday afternoon 4-0 in Fullerton, Calif.

Doubles play was close with there being two tiebreakers of the three matches to decide who got the point. Ultimately, CSU Fullerton would begin with the 1-0 advantage.

It would follow that up by winning all three singles points in order to sweep the match. This would leave San Jose State’s Carolina Millan, Rozalina Youseva and Jovana Babic to have unfinished matches.

This means Millan remains undefeated in singles play with a 4-0 record.

The Spartans’ doubles pair of Irena Muradyan and Mountain West Freshman of the Week Cheuk Ying Shek remained undefeated. Friday was their biggest challenge yet, losing six sets and barely winning off the 3-0 tiebreaker. Prior to this match, their most allowed sets in spring were four to Cal Poly.

With the dominance displayed from Muradyan and Ying Shek, it’s up to the other pairs to pull their weight to get SJSU that first point each match.

Millan and Babic were just a point away from doing so but ultimately lost the tiebreaker. It marks the third consecutive loss the pair has faced.

Friday also marked the first time the pair of Youseva and Duru Durgun lost. It was the first match completed by a score of 6-2.

Ying Shek and Muradyan both lost their singles matches in just two sets. Muradyan (5-6) and Olaya Bances Iglesias (0-4) are the only Spartans with losing records in singles play this season.

San Jose State won’t have much time to recover as it takes the court again against CSU opponent. They’re schedule to take on CSU Northridge at 11 a.m. Sunday in Northridge, Calif.
