San Jose State gymnastics won its third match in a row in dramatic fashion in its 196.400-196.175 win over UC Davis.

The teams split wins on rotations but it was the Spartans who came through on the floor led by 5th year Jada Mazury that sealed the match.

It was tied at 196.175 with just Mazury’s floor routine to be scored and she went on to score a 9.925 with an emphatic iron man like pose to get the Event Center pumping. Mazury won her third consecutive and fourth overall floor title of the season.

“You got to add a little extra spice at the end,” Mazury said following her walk-off win. “I like to really show it at the end just for that exclamation point.”

Spartan Senior Lauren Macpherson also had a 9.925 to lead the beam team as SJSU scored a season best 49.050.

Fellow teammate and junior Sophia Konieczny joined in on the action posting a career-best 9.875 on bars.

“For every event we went 49 plus for the first time this season” said SJSU head coach Joanne Bowers. “We’ve been really focusing as team on our control landings and sticks.”

On the flip side, UC Davis junior Keanna Abraham led the team with a 9.900 in the vault to secure first place.

Overall the Aggies battled hard, they scored their highest score of the season with a 196.175 but caught the Spartans on a hot streak.

SJSU has built this three-meet win streak at home but will now have its next four on the road.

SJSU’s first stop will be at Utah State on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
