SJSU softball (6-9, 0-0 MW) lost 2-1 in the bottom seventh against the Cal State Fullerton Titans (10-7, 0-0 BW) Friday night in Fullerton.

The game was a pitcher’s duel throughout. The Spartans starter, sophomore pitcher Lacie Ham, pitched six scoreless innings. In the bottom of the seventh is when SJSU “fumbled the bag.”

The Titans used a mix of only two pitchers. Sophomore pitcher Raci Miranda started the game pitching three scoreless innings. In relief, sophomore pitcher Haley Rainey picked up the win for the Titans by pitching four innings and only giving up one run on two hits with seven strikeouts.

CSU Fullerton senior second baseman Alexa Neil hit a single to left field to score two RBIs, one being the game winning run.

SJSU’s Ham had eight strikeouts, which tied a career high. Redshirt senior third baseman Alyssa Graham went two for four with a double and a run scored.

Junior right fielder Ashley Rico helped push across the Spartans’ only run of the night. Rico had a stellar night going three for three with one walk and one RBI.

Tune in for Game 2 of the Judi Garman Classic as SJSU Softball take on the No. 15 LSU Tigers Saturday afternoon in Fullerton.
