San Jose State men’s track attended the Fresno State Invitational where the Spartans competed in two days of events.

The men’s hammer throw was held Friday where SJSU’s Bryan Quintero came in fourth place with 60.66 meters. Spartan Bryson Smith came in 16th with 53.89m. First place was held by Washington’s Jayden White with 68.88m.

Saturday was jam-packed with events and the athletes competed late into the evening. Christian Rodriguez secured first place in the men’s 800 with a time of 1:51.84. This was the only Spartans’ first place at the invitational, and it was much needed.

Jacob Lopez came in 10th place in the shot put with a 15.81m. First place was held by Washington’s Sam Van Peursem with a whopping 18.31m.

In the men’s 400 relay, the Spartans came in fourth place with a time of 41.08s and in the men’s 1600 relay, they came in fifth place with a time of 3:14.67.

SJSU’s Jalen Adams came in 16th in the men’s 100 dash with a time of 10.80s. First place was held by Cal State Fullerton’s Alonzo Floriolli with a 10.37s.

Adams also participated in the men’s 200 dash where he came in 13th with a 21.58s. Behind him, Harry Overstreet came in 15th with a 21.77s. First place was held by Floriolli with a 20.84s.

SJSU competed in a handful of events and the vast number of athletes left little room for error. The Fresno State Invitational marked the end of the regular season for the Spartans and the Mountain West Outdoor Championships will begin on May 11.
