San Jose State baseball (24-19, 13-10 MW) went up against the University of New Mexico (16-26, 7-16 MW). The Spartans managed a narrow win 7-6.
The game started with an early lead by the Spartans, 1-0. Going into the second inning, the Lobos caught up and tied the game.
Sophomore Charles McAdoo aided in the Spartans taking the early 2-1 lead. To continue the Spartans’ success, junior Jack Colette had his third home run this season, giving the Spartans a 3-1 lead.
During the fifth inning, the game seemed to slip out of the Spartans’ grasp. The Lobos scored four unanswered runs to take a 5-3 lead.
Although the fifth inning could have led SJSU to be influenced by the Lobos’ lead, the Spartans turned the game around once again.
McAdoo saw a chance to score as the Lobos’ pitcher fumbled the ball. McAdoo tied the game, 5-5.
Ultimately, SJSU took a second win in the three-game series against New Mexico, 7-6.
The Spartans wrap up the series against the Lobos on Sunday, May 1 at 11 a.m.
