San Jose State men’s soccer player Rudi Castro has won the Western Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference announced Monday.
The senior amassed a hat trick of assists in SJSU’s Wednesday night game against Utah Valley University, including the match winner to Finlay Wood in the 99th minute.
Castro would also bag an assist in the Spartans’ win Saturday against Incarnate Word. His looping cross in the 94th minute found midfielder Danny Sanchez at the back post, who headed it into the net to score SJSU’s second extra-time winner in less than a week.
The two wins last week guaranteed the team’s fifth straight appearance in the WAC tournament which begins later this month.
Castro and the Spartans will go back into action Monday as they take on UNLV at the Spartan Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
