San Jose State softball fell to Fresno State on Sunday by a score of 4-1. SJSU was finally able to get a hit off the Bulldogs senior star pitcher Hailey Dolcini for the first time in two games.
Sophomore Jocylyn Vidal shined in the series both on the mound and at the plate. The only hit the Spartans were able to get against Dolcini was a solo home-run off the bat of Vidal in the fifth inning.
Dolcini finished the weekend with a total of 13 innings pitched and had a combined 26 strikeouts. After setting a season high in strikeouts on Saturday with 12, she proceeded to beat that with 14 more K’s on Sunday. Dolcini is now on a personal eight game win streak.
Senior Caroline Bowman got the start on the mound once again for the Spartans and finished with four innings and gave up three runs. Bowman has yet to record a win on the mound this season as she falls to her seventh loss.
SJSU will look to right the ship at home against Nevada next weekend with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
