San Jose State women’s tennis stay undefeated with a 5-2 win over the University of the Pacific Tigers Friday, winning the doubles point and going 4-2 in singles.

Freshman Irena Muradyan continued her impressive debut season as a Spartan with a 6-3, 6-3 singles win over UOP sophomore Zoe Eberle. She is 6-0 so far this season in singles and 5-1 in doubles.

She also tallied the first of two Spartans’ doubles wins Friday with her partner sophomore Rozalina Youseva. They defeated UOP’s Maile Brilhante and Ella Leroy 6-1.

SJSU’s second doubles win came by way of senior Savannah Sendar and graduate student Tamara Culibrk in a tough 77-63 win.

After the Spartans secured the doubles point, they needed three more wins from the singles matches to claim victory. So far this 2021 season, the Spartans have always come out on top in regards to singles.

At the Spartan Tennis Complex Friday, it was no different.

Youseva defeated UOP sophomore Elise Frigout 6-4, 6-1 putting the Spartans up 3-1.

Freshman Raquel Villan Pereira followed up with a 77-63, 77-63 win against UOP sophomore Danielle Zamora, securing the Spartan’s victory for the day.

Sophomore Lara Marco Mas grinded out her 77-63, 3-6, 10-3 win against UOP junior Maya Lopez in the longest match of the day, giving the Spartans their fourth singles match victory.

It looks as if nothing can stop the 2021 Spartan’s women’s tennis team.

With the cancellation of their Saturday game against Grand Canyon University, the Spartans’ next chance to go 7-0 will have to wait until next week.

They face Saint Mary’s College of California at the Spartan Tennis Complex March 20 at noon.
