The forecast calls for sunshine, chilly waters, and the season’s end.
San Jose State men’s water polo (2-6) plays its last games of the season against Santa Clara University (1-1) and Cuesta College (0-0) on Saturday.
The Spartans had a difficult start to the season with a four game losing streak, but were able to turn it around in their past few games.
They played well in both games against SCU this season, losing the first matchup 11-10 on Feb. 28 and winning the second game 9-4 on Mar. 5.
The Broncos have had close games in their past few seasons, such as in their 2019 season 15-13 and in their 2018 season 11-14.
SJSU stands a good chance at beating SCU and bringing home one more win.
On the other hand, Cuesta College may prove to be a challenge for the Spartans despite being a community college. The Cougars gave them all they could handle in a 15-13 defeat on Sept. 7, 2019, the last contest between the two schools.
Historically, Cuesta College has had overwhelming success in their past seasons, posting a 26-9 record in the 2019 season and a 22-10 record in their 2018 season.
The Spartans will only have a few hours after their first game against the Broncos to prepare for Cuesta and they’ll need all the rest they can get to beat them.
SJSU men’s water polo will start its last game against SCU at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by their final game of the season against Cuesta College at 1:30 p.m. both at the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center (SRAC).
