San José State University women’s tennis team (5-0) crushed UC Davis (2-4) 6-1 to continue its winning spree.
The Spartans displayed grit and determination on the court winning all but two matches, one each in the singles and double’s category.
SJSU had a disappointing start with Savannah Sendar and Rozalina Youseva losing to Shirley Hall and Michelle Zell in the first doubles match 6-0.
However, teammates Alba Pedrero Galindo and Lara Marco Mas came back with a 6-4 win against Davis’ Yana Gurevich and Kristina Evloeva.
Spartans Irena Muradyan and Tamara Culibrk continued the momentum to claim victory against Aggies’ Olive Maunupau and Carly Schwartzberg 6-3.
In the singles match junior Galindo beat Aggies Yana Gurevich in straight sets 6-1, 6-4.
Sophomore Youseva followed up with a similar win defeating UCD’s Michelle Zell in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.
In the third singles match freshman Muradyan won 6-4, 6-4 against Shirley Hall.
SJSU sophomore Marco Mas put up a tough fight but lost to Olive Maunupau in a three set duel 6-2, 3-6, 3-6.
SJSU lost the fourth single but picked up wins in the next two exhibiting its great form this season.
Freshman Raquel Villan Pereira defeated Kristina Evloeva 6-3, 6-4.
Spartan’s freshman Jovana Babic clenched a 7-6, 6-2 win against Carly Schwartzberg.
The unbeaten SJSU women’s tennis team will host Pacific Tigers (1-4) at the Spartan Tennis Complex 12 P.M. on March 12.
