Spartans finish their historic season in the Top 25

If you had told any college football expert before the season that the San Jose State Spartans would finish the 2020-2021 season No. 24 on the final AP poll, they might have told you you were crazy.

Winning the Mountain West championship over Boise State solidified the Spartans as contenders in the college football world and put SJSU on the map going into their bowl game.

SJSU was 7-0  for over two months before dropping its final game of the season to Ball State 34-13 in the Offerpad Arizona Bowl on Dec. 31 2020.

Although the Spartans began receiving votes earlier in the year, they didn’t receive a ranking until the tail end of the season, going into the Arizona Bowl at No. 22. in the AP Poll.

While the season came to an ugly end, SJSU has a lot to be proud of such as finishing the regular season undefeated, winning the Mountain West and ending the season ranked for the first time since 2012.
