Air Force (3-2, 2-2 MW) 35, Utah State (1-5) 7
The Falcons ran all over the Aggies defense on Friday night. The team had 334 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Senior running back Kadin Remsberg led the charge with 107 rushing yards and one touchdown. The lone Aggie score came in the first quarter when sophomore quarterback Andrew Peasley hooked up with senior wide receiver Jordan Nathan to cap a 15 play, 65 yard drive. It was all Falcons after that. Air Force will hit the road to face Army on Dec. 19 while Utah State will close the season out Saturday on the road against Colorado State.
San Diego State (4-3, 4-2 MW) 29, Colorado State (1-3) 17
SDSU had two huge plays on special teams. The first play happened in the second quarter when junior running back Jordan Byrd who took a kickoff return 93 yards for a touchdown. In the same quarter, junior wide receiver BJ Busbee took a punt return 90 yards to the house. It was the spark the Aztecs needed to help knock off the Rams. The bright spot for Colorado State was senior running back Marcus McElroy who had 10 rushes for 50 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. The Aztecs will have a tough match up at BYU on Saturday. Colorado State will play host to Utah State on Saturday.
Nevada (6-1) 37, Fresno State (3-2) 26
Both teams had trouble protecting the football with six turnovers combined. In the end it was the Wolf Pack who came out on top. Thanks in large part to sophomore quarterback Carson Strong who threw for 354 yards and five touchdowns along with two interceptions in the win. Fresno State was not going down without a fight. Junior quarterback Jake Haener threw for 485 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldogs had 599 total yards of offense in the loss. They will wrap up the season on the road against New Mexico on Saturday. Nevada will play host to San Jose State on Saturday with the winner locking up a spot in the Mountain West Championship Game.
New Mexico (1-5) 17, Wyoming (2-3) 16
The Lobos were able to get their first win of the season Saturday when they knocked off the Cowboys. Senior linebacker Brandon Shook was able to pick off freshman quarterback Levi Williams to secure the win. UNM junior running back Bobby Cole was a swiss army knife on the field rushing for 131 yards he also had 53 receiving yards and one touchdown. For the Cowboys, senior running back Trey Smith had 24 rushes for 154 yards and one touchdown. Wyoming will look to right the ship on Saturday when they play host to Boise State while UNM will play host to Fresno State.
San Jose State (5-0) 35, Hawaii (3-4) 24
The Spartans were able to run over the Rainbow Warriors to stay undefeated on the season. The team was led by senior running back Tyler Nevens who ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, junior linebacker Kyle Harmon continued to add to his season tackle total. His eight tackles were a game high for any player on the field. Sophomore defensive end Viliami Fehoko closed out the game by sacking Hawaii quarterback Chevan Cordeiro. The sophomore quarterback was a bright spot for the Rainbow Warriors throwing for 238 yards and two touchdowns along with one interception. He also had 36 rushing yards and one touchdown. Hawaii will stay home and close the season against UNLV while SJSU will hit the road on Saturday to take on Nevada. The winner of that game will punch their ticket to the Mountain West Championship Game.
