San Jose State freshman pitcher Shannon Haddad has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week.
Haddad made five appearances for the Spartans and started four of them all resulting in SJSU victories.
The stellar freshman allowed zero earned runs over the week, which included two complete-game shutouts against Canisius and California Baptist.
In her lone relief showing, Haddad only allowed one hit and earned her second save of the season.
She has been on a tear after losing her first start against Cal State Fullerton.
On the season, Haddad has been lights out with an outstanding 0.77 ERA and 54 strikeouts on 45.1 innings pitched.
The freshman has been a vital piece to this pitching rotation deemed by head coach Peter Turner as a “quadruple threat.”
SJSU has 11 non-conference games that include a home game against the No. 2 ranked University of Washington prior to league play.
The Spartans will continue to climb up the national ranks after they received four votes in the top 25.
The team is currently on a 14-game winning streak that the Spartans will try to extend at home against Santa Clara University.
