San Jose State’s women’s soccer team (4-6-3) played to a 0-0 draw Friday against Wyoming (5-4-4) in an evenly keeled match at Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

The Spartans were outshot 2-7 despite deploying an aggressive play-style.

Freshman defender Phoebe Rapoza was booked late in the 44th minute after receiving a controversial yellow card minutes before halftime.

The defending Mountain West champions now hold a 2-2-1 record against conference foes this season, a somewhat remarkable achievement considering the Spartans’ lack of goal production.

Wyoming nearly conceded a goal to SJSU when senior forward Jamilecxth Becerra’s shot in the 61st minute was denied by Cowgirls goalkeeper Hannah Lee.

It was the same ole’ story for SJSU heading into overtime. The Spartans outshot the Cowgirls 9-2, but were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Sophomore forward Sylvia Sloss’s shot went just over the goal post in the 106th minute, nearly ending the game.

Both teams desperately threw defenders towards the box, but the Spartans would ultimately finish with three yellow cards in an intense overtime period.

Senior defender Kristen Amarikwa and freshman forward Izzy Shallou-Enes were both booked in the 110th minute of overtime, resulting in the 0-0 draw in Laramie.

The Spartans will continue their Rocky mountain road trip with a visit to Colorado State to take on the Rams. The Sunday match is set for an early 12 p.m. kick off.
