UPDATE: According to Nick’s father, further examinations today have revealed that the injury is not as significant as originally thought. He believes that his son will be ready to play Saturday.
It looks as though San Jose State will be without its dynamic play-making freshman backup quarterback, Nick Nash, in a pivotal homecoming matchup this coming Saturday.
Nash left Saturday’s game against the University of Nevada due to a right ankle injury and did not return. The Spartans ultimately fell short to the Wolf Pack 41-38.
His father — and former SJSU receiver — Kenny Nash, said that Nick is doing OK, but the injury is going to cause him to miss at least one game.
Nash is currently the team’s leading rusher with 255 yards on the ground. Coaches are doing a great job of finding matchups that work in his favor.
Without him on the field, the offense loses a dimension. Nash has averaged 46 yards per game on the ground this season. The rest of SJSU’s offense averages 58 ypg combined.
With or without Nick on the field, the Spartans will suit up for their homecoming game against San Diego State. That game will be at CEFCU Stadium at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.
