A lone run separated San Jose State softball (24-10, 4-1 MW) as it defeated Boise State (23-7, 3-5 MW) 6-5 to clinch the three-game series and take control of the conference standings.

The difference — Madison Aurin.

The senior infielder walked it off for the Spartans in the eighth after slapping a single up the middle to bring home the winning run in junior outfielder Makayla Englestad.

Freshman right-hander Jenessa Ullegue picked up her 11th win of the season, improving her individual clip to 11-2. She’s also won seven of her last nine starts.

The Broncos put themselves on the board with one run in the first frame with the help of sophomore outfielder Ashlyn Adams. She singled to right and scored senior outfielder Kora Wade.

In the second, sophomore infielder Justene Molina reached home from second on a RBI single from Alison Seng.

In the bottom of the third, SJSU junior infielder Cassidy Clark scored a run with her eyes, drawing a walk to score sophomore catcher Grace Garvey.

In the fourth, the Spartans tied the game at 2 on an Alyssa Graham double that sent junior outfielder Kaelin Amrein home. Clark then slapped a two-out RBI single that brought in the freshman infielder and gave the Spartans their first lead.

Senior catcher Alyssa Avila made it 5-2 in the fifth inning on a double that brought home Amrein and sophomore infielder Rayohna Sagapolu.

SJSU was unable to close out the game as BSU surged back with three runs in the seventh to tie the game.

Aurin’s walk off single gave the team the series victory over the defending Mountain West champions.

The Spartans will go for the sweep Sunday at 12 p.m.
