San Jose State baseball’s (14-15, 8-4 MW) losing streak has now reached six straight games as it fell to the University of San Francisco (16-11) Tuesday afternoon, 6-3.
SJSU started the game off strong and picked up three runs in the first frame behind a 2-RBI single from freshman outfielder Richard Kabasinskas, and another RBI single from sophomore infielder Santiago Cantu.
The game slipped away from the Spartans after the first inning, and they would not put up another run all afternoon.
The Dons came alive in fourth and put up a four runs, followed by a two-spot in the sixth.
The score would not change after the sixth inning, with the Dons taking the victory 6-3.
A key contributor for USF was shortstop Brandon Greim. The freshman went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Another Don that helped secure the win junior outfielder Jacob Westerman. He went 1-for-2 at the plate with a two-run homer in the sixth.
As for the Spartans, junior Kellen Strahm highlighted the offense. The outfielder finished the contest 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Kabasinskas led SJSU with 2 RBIs, while Cantu also had a solid game hitting 1-for-3 with an RBI.
The Spartans will look to break their losing streak when they start a three-game home conference series against the University of New Mexico.
The first game will be on Friday at 6 p.m. at Municipal Stadium.
