Anderson sets career-high in scoring, women’s hoops fall to UNM

Sophomore guard Megan Anderson recorded a career-high 22 points as San Jose State women’s basketball (4-22, 3-12 MW) fell to University of New Mexico, 110-72.

Anderson was 6-of-8 from the 3-point line and finished 8-of-12 from the floor in 33 minutes played.

The Lobos (22-4, 12-3 MW) came to play as they outscored the Spartans in all four quarters. The only lead SJSU saw was at 7-6 with 6:57 left in the first.

UNM was at its best in the second and third quarters, where it shot 62.5 and 66.7 percent, respectively. The team finished the game 50.6 from the field and cruised away with the 38-point victory.

Sophomore guard Jaedyn De La Cerda led the team off the bench for the Lobos with 31 points and 7 rebounds in 25 minutes.

Led by Anderson, the Spartans finished with a 37.9 shooting percentage. Sophomore guard Cydni Lewis came off the bench and recorded 14 points and 5 boards.

Sophomore point-guard Danae Marquez led SJSU in assists with a career-high of 9.

Three more Lobos finished in double figures, including senior center Jaisa Nunn. She recorded 21 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

Looking to get back in the win column, SJSU will play San Diego State at the Event Center on Saturday.
