San Jose State men’s golf heads home after a tough few days at the 28th annual Amer Ari Invitational as it finished 14th out of 18 teams.

The Spartans were up against a stacked field that included Oklahoma State, who are the No. 1 ranked team nationally.

The team posted under-par scores for the first two rounds, but posted a 303 team score in the final round for a total score of 868 after 54 holes. The Waikoloa Kings course was a par 72.

Oklahoma State finished the tournament with a strong showing by finishing in first place and beating the next placed team by 10 strokes.

Freshman Parker Sisk played a brilliant round in the individual entry section on the last day. He finished with an even par 72, which was good enough to tie the third-best individual score for that round.

OSU’s Matthew Wolff took the individual trophy after a final round 65.

Junior Sean Yu began the final round tied for 12th place, but slipped down to 37th after shooting two-under par for a score of 214. Yu was San Jose State’s best performer.

Senior Kevin Velo sunk 14 birdies in the tournament, but finished two-over par.

The Spartans will be back on the course on Feb. 25th looking to improve on their last performance. They will attend the Southwestern Intercollegiate tournament in Westlake Village, California.
