Spartans look to carry momentum into clash with Broncos

San Jose State (2-18, 1-8 MWC) returns home Saturday to host the red-hot Boise State Broncos (18-3, 9-1 MWC), who are currently at the top of the Mountain West table.

The Spartans, despite a rough season so far, have been finding some recent form. After losing a 69-68 heartbreaker to the Aztecs last week, they will look to jump back into the win column.

Sophomore Mikaylah Wilson will need to replicate her pivotal performance against the Aztecs to give the Spartans any chance against the Broncos. Wilson’s double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds were both career-highs.

BSU’s junior guard Riley Lupfer will be a formidable foe for the Spartan defense as she enters the game leading the Broncos with 12 points per game.

Lupfer is currently second on Boise State’s all-time list for three-pointers, with 229 shots made from beyond the arc.

The Broncos enter the contest looking to make it four wins in a row.

The Spartans, with only nine games left in the regular season, are at risk of posting their worst record since joining the Mountain West in 2013. The team finished 11-19 overall and 5-13 in conference.

Tip off is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Event Center.
