Still in search of its first Mountain West victory, San Jose State women’s basketball (1-13, 0-3 MW) heads to the Beehive State to take on Utah State (8-7, 3-1 MW) Wednesday morning.
The Spartans look to bounce back after a 31-point loss to Boise State last Saturday.
USU enters with a 40.8 shooting percentage from the floor, while going 30.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Guard/forward Shannon Dufficy tops all starters with a 47.2 field-goal percentage and averaging 15.9 points per game. The junior also leads the Aggies with 153 total rebounds in 15 games.
Junior Eliza West leads the team with 78 assists, with the next best belonging to freshman Steph Gorman with 38. The guard will be looking to pass the ball more than taking shots herself.
Gorman also tops Utah State in 3-point shooting. She holds a 39.7 percentage with 29 made 3’s.
The Spartan defense will look to give the team more scoring opportunities as the Aggies average 16 turnovers per game.
Sophomore point guard Danae Marquez leads SJSU with 24 steals, followed by junior guard Fieme’a Hafoka with 22.
Since USU allows an average of 12 free throws to its opponents, San Jose State may also be looking to draw fouls to get to the line.
Forward Cydni Lewis and guard Raziya Potter lead the team with the most made free throws at 31 and 19.
The Aggies hold the all-time series advantage 17-10, so the Spartans have another tough challenge in Logan, Utah.
Tip-off at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum is set for 10 a.m.
