Women’s basketball aims for first win against Roadrunners

San Jose State women’s basketball kicks off its three-game home stand with a battle against CSU Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon.

The 0-3 Spartans are going to strive for a win against the Roadrunners, but it will be tough as they have two wins under their belt.

Even early on in the season, the Roadrunners have proved to be a high scoring team. Currently, they have three players averaging scores in the double digits.

The Spartan defense is going to have to be aware of that and expose every mistake the Roadrunners make this weekend.

It has been a slow start for the Spartans and it’s time for the younger members to step up to get the first win of the season. The biggest thing is going to be putting up points, especially in the first half.

Despite its defeats, SJSU does have a couple sophomores on the team who have showed out in the past few games.

In last week’s game against Portland State, sophomores Mikaylah Wilson and Megan Anderson led the team in points with a combined total of 24.

This game against CSU Bakersfield will kick off the doubleheader on Saturday as the men will be playing right after its conclusion.

Tip off is at 12 p.m. in the Event Center.
