SJSU women’s volleyball (6-9, 1-5 ) lost in three sets Saturday at New Mexico (11-7, 5-1 ). The game marks the fifth loss in the last six matches for the Spartans.
The first set of the match was a tough one for the Spartans as the Lobos took them down 25-11. Unable to recover from the first loss, the Spartans dropped the last two sets 25-19 and 25-22.
The Spartans started the year winning four out of the first seven games. Since that point in their season, they have only won two out of the last eight games.
The marquee difference between these seemingly two different halves of the same season is the amount of games played on the road. The Spartans have had almost twice the amount of away games in the last eight games as they did in the first seven.
After being on the road since the middle of the week, the Spartans looked fatigued on the floor which took a toll on their playing.
SJSU will look to get another winning streak going and end this drought as they head home to San Jose. A stretch of four games with three at home awaits them upon their return.
The Spartans’ next chance to rectify their season record will be when they host Nevada Tuesday October 9 at 6 p.m.
