San Jose State women’s golf is back in action and looking to continue its early success in the Coeur d’Alene Collegiate Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

SJSU will compete in 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday against 17 teams, including host Gonzaga University.

Head coach Dana Dormann will stick to the same starting five that participated in the Minnesota Invitational: freshmen Natasha Andrea Oon and Antonia Malate, and seniors Abegail Arevalo, Alexandra Cooper and Franziska Friedrich.

Host Gonzaga is coming off a sixth-place finish, with Quynn Duong finishing second in her Bulldog debut.

In addition to Duong, a few other players to keep an eye on the next two days are UC Irvine’s Janet Yeo, Long Beach State’s Hunter Pate and UC Berkeley’s Cindy Oh.

Yeo finished second at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic with 211 strokes, while Pate came in tied for third place with 214 strokes. Oh secured a fourth-place finish with 212 strokes at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational.

When it comes to a team effort, a couple programs to look out for are University of Nevada and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The Wolf Pack concluded the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in second place, while the Fighting Illini battled and tied for third place in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Invitational.

Among the 17 teams is only one familiar foe for the Spartans: University of San Francisco. The Dons competed in the Minnesota Invitational and placed 13th at 38-over par 72.

USF’s best individual performance came from freshman Annika Borrelli. She finished tied-22 at 5-over par.

SJSU will be a force to be reckoned with, both as a team and individually.

The Spartans clinched a first-place finish with a combined score of 4-under par at the Minnesota Invitational. Andrea Oon finished 9-under par to take the individual title.

The first round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday, followed by the second round. The invitational concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
