No. 19 San Jose State’s women’s water polo team will wrap up regular season against No. 2 Stanford.
For the third time in the last four matches, SJSU will play the No. 2 team in the country.
It will be senior day for six Spartans. Goalkeepers Katelynn Thompson and Tayler Peters, 2M Vanessa Elgohary, and drivers Klaudia Paradi, Jennifer Liu and Jordan Milich-Misikini will all play their final matches.
The Cardinals have a 45-0 all-time record against the Spartans since 1997.
In the last match for SJSU (9-16) against USC, the Spartans took 23 shots and their only goal was scored by Elgohary.
Thompson was credited with eight saves for the 30 minutes she played, but the Spartans lost 12-1.
Earlier this season, the Spartans competed in the Cal Cup where the Cardinal (15-2) took the win 15-4.
The Cardinal recently played USC as well, a game where they hosted, but fell 8-5.
The Spartans have played back-to-back games against the top six ranked teams and hope to regain their strength to finally get a win against the Cardinal.
Stanford is second in the MPSF in both goals per game (12.18) and goals allowed (4.35).
The match will start at 12 p.m at West Valley College in Saratoga.
