Tennis concludes 2018 season vs Aztecs

The San Jose State women’s tennis is in Southern California for its final match of the season versus San Diego State.

The Spartans (11-8) are looking to bounce back from 7-0 and 4-2 losses against Nevada and Fresno State last week.

San Diego State (7-7) is also looking to come back home from a tough loss against the Bulldogs 4-3.

The last time the Spartans and Aztecs met was in September at the SDSU Fall Classic, where junior Miyo Kobayashi won the singles tournament against Aztec junior Jenny Moinard.

Last season when the teams met at SJSU for their conference matchup, the Spartans swept SDSU 7-0.

Moinard has been hot for the Aztecs with a 17-3 singles record this season. She will likely be lined up against Spartan senior Sybille Gauvain, who will be playing her final match as a Spartan.

Following the conclusion of the season, the Mountain West Championships will begin next Thursday in Boise, where the Spartans will look to defend their 2017 MW title.

Saturday’s game in San Diego is set to start at noon.
