A busy week lies ahead for San Jose State’s women’s track and field team as it heads up and down the state to compete in three different meets.
Starting on Wednesday, junior Kolbi Sims will partake in the California Invitational Multis in Azusa. Sims is looking to break her personal–best heptathlon, which is currently 5,045 points.
Continuing on Thursday, part of the team will be competing in other events in Azusa for the Bryan Clay Invitational. Additionally, other Spartans will be 20 miles away in Walnut for the Mt. SAC Relays until Saturday.
Meanwhile closer to home, SJSU will compete in the Cardinal Classic at Stanford starting on Friday.
Despite the split within the team at various events, high caliber schools — including multiple PAC-12 opponents — will be present at both the Cardinal Classic and Mt. SAC Relays.
Since the outdoor season has begun, the Spartans have been improving in every meet with consistent times and distances, along with breaking records and personal bests.
Senior Cambree Harbaugh and sophomore Destiny Longmire have continued to excel in the jumping events.
The Spartans have had a little over a week off from competing, so they should be fresh to go against some of the top teams in the nation such as, No. 10 Stanford and No. 13 Arizona State.
