With only four regular season games left, the San Jose State women’s basketball team is set to take on Nevada at the Event Center Wednesday night.
Nevada (12-13, 5-9 MW) snapped a seven-game losing streak in its last contest, while San Jose State (6-19, 3-11 MW) is looking still searching for its first win in six weeks.
In its last game, SJSU had a rough finish during the final seconds to Wyoming, a game where the Spartans never trailed until the final bucket.
Two players from SJSU and one player from Nevada are all close to having 1,000 career points scored.
For San Jose State, senior guard Myzhanique Ladd has scored 963 career points during her time with the team.
Senior forward Hallie Gennett is right with Ladd with 967 career points. Both players are expected to hit the 1,000 points mark by the end of this season.
Nevada senior guard T Moe scored a career-high 27 points in her last game against Utah State and now needs 59 points to reach 1,000 points in her career.
Last time these two teams met on January 17 in Nevada, sophomore guard Taylor Turney scored a career-high 28 points in a 91-63 loss. Turney suffered an ankle injury in the second half of the Wyoming game and had to leave the game early.
Head coach Jaime Craighead said after the game against the Cowgirls that Turney had an ankle sprain and “will be fine.”
Whether or not that means Turney will get minutes tonight is one thing, but Turney will need to be in action if SJSU wants a chance.
Tip off is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
