In a night where the power play was a struggle for the San Jose Barracuda, they dropped their third straight match at the hands of the Ontario Reign 5-2.
All year the Barracuda have struggled on the power play and now finds themselves with the worst power play percentage in the Pacific Division.
The Barracuda were in a 3-0 hole 10 minutes into the first period during the third game of a four-game road trip.
It was during the second frame that the Reign became a little too comfortable and San Jose was able to get within one.
The goalscorers for the Barracuda were Colby McAuley and Alexander True, two that have struggled getting on the score sheet lately.
The momentum shifted back in Ontario’s favor at the start of the third and final period. The Reign added two more to the goal column making it a 5-2 victory for the home team.
Final shots for the game were 21 for the Barracuda and 36 for the Reign.
Looking forward, the Barracuda will look to execute on the powerplay opportunities, increase shot totals while looking to get back into the win column.
Their final stop on this late-month road trip will be in Bakersfield as they take on the Condors this Friday at 7 p.m.
