San Jose State men’s soccer suffered a 2-0 defeat against Stanford in an exhibition match Friday at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

This is the second of three pre-season friendlies aiming to prepare the Spartans for their upcoming 2025 season.

In the second half, SJSU was chasing the game and creating some chances, but was ultimately not able to find a way back into the game after Stanford scored a dagger in the 86th minute.

During the first half, the Spartans struggled to make an impact in the final third and conceded their first goal in the 28th minute.

The rivalry between SJSU and Stanford was very much alive, as multiple players got into a scuffle pitch side, which resulted in a booking.

Despite the setback, SJSU’s crowd support was roaring on the Spartans with every action, pushing for them to make a comeback.

The stars were out, as former SJSU soccer player and current San Jose Earthquakes player Beau Leroux was in attendance at the Spartan Complex.

Stanford alumni and Leroux’s Quakes teammate, Ousseni Bouda, was also at the match supporting the Cardinals.

Former SJSU basketball player, Latrell Davis, was also seen in the crowd showing support to his fellow Spartans.

Next, San Jose State takes on Saint Mary’s on April 26th at 1 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
