Continuing a three-game losing streak, San Jose State women’s tennis (15-4, 6-3 MW) lost to the University of Nevada (16-3, 7-2 MW) 4-3 on Sunday.
The Spartans were able to win three singles matches but lost all the doubles matches against Nevada
Nevada’s doubles partners finished first against freshman partners Soledad Fayos Capilla and Emma Fantousis 6-1.
The Spartans sophomore Cheuk Ying Shek and senior Carla Urchoeguia lost 6-3 against their opponents.
Which left sophomore Duru Durgun and senior Olaya Bances with an unfinished match in the second set.
Shek lost her singles match against Nevada’s junior Amahée Charrier 6-4 and 6-1.
Along with Bances losing her singles match 6-4 and 6-1. Urchoeguia won her singles match 6-3 and 6-7.
Fantousis gave the Spartans a chance by winning her singles match. The first set losing 6-1 and winning the last two 6-1 and 7-5.
Tying the match 3-3, Fayos won her singles competition. Losing the first set 6-1 and winning her second and third 6-2, and 7(7)- 6(4).
Clinching the final match was Nevada’s Marlene Foerster against Durgun.
SJSU will face Fresno State at noon Sunday at Spartan Tennis Complex.
